Smart Growth Aiken

Aiken County Open Land Trust

Annual Meeting 2007
Rose Hill Estate 221 Greenville St NW
Sunday Feb 25th 3-5 pm

Parking options: either on both sides of Greenville Street, or in the off street parking lot located on Florence St.

In a recent “Talkback” in the Aiken Standard, a caller asked the question: “Have all the conservationists moved away?”

The person was obviously concerned about the role of the citizens of Aiken amongst all of the growth we are experiencing and resulting traffic, building, loss of open space and wildlife habitat. This is a very good question which needs to be answered.

As a matter of fact, there are a good many of us still here! A large portion of this meeting will address these issues.

What ACOLT is doing to cope with growth in Aiken? How you too can help.

Featuring presentations by:

  • ACOLT Board Members on Conservation Easements and the potential Tax and Conservation benefits to landowners, developers and our community.
  • Bill Reynolds, Chairman of the City Task force on Open Space.
  • David Scott, ecologist, “How Open Space Conservation can play a key role in Watershed Protection”.
This meeting is free to all, both ACOLT members and guests. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served. A tour of the Rose Hill Estate will be conducted at the conclusion of the meeting.
